I wish to propose for the reader's favourable consideration a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it to be true.

Numbers, numbers, numbers...

Everything is numbers!

Well, maybe not everything... As Star Trek's Captain Kirk would tirelessly expound to various alien intelligences, you can't enumerate emotion. Cheesy Sci-Fi clichés none withstanding, I was surprised at the appearance of this category on my own website. It was certainly not planned...

It only came about as I stood in front of my white-board trying to figure out just how I was going to categorise the mountain of material I had assembled. To my horror, a significant fraction of the content on my website was concerned, directly, with numbers.

Organisationally then, the category is useful, but I worry: does it brand me forever as a dangerous dilettante?
